Nutella Peanut Butter Balls

March 4, 2013 By denise 6 Comments

I made these little delectable morsels to pass out at the office to kick off Amplify Austin. The nonprofit I work at was participating in it so I wanted to inspire people to give.

When I saw Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks make these on her Southern Kitchen show on the Food Network, I knew I needed to try them out. It didn’t hurt that Garth Brooks loves them!

To say they were good is an understatement. When Garth and Trish were raving about them on the show I thought “how good can they be?” Well I soon found out.

This no bake dessert was simple and provided a burst of flavor from the first bite. It is also the perfect snack size. I did mix it up a bit by adding Nutella – one of my favorite substitutions – and that just propelled it even further than the original I am sure. Be prepared to eat more than one. They are addicting and oh so delightful.

Nutella Peanut Butter Balls(Recipe slightly adapted from Trisha Yearwood)

Ingredients:

1 c sugar
1/2 c dark corn syrup
1/2 c white corn syrup
1 1/2 c crunchy peanut butter
1/2 c Nutella
4 c rice cereal

Instructions:

Using a large saucepan, add the sugar and corn syrups together. Whisk together over medium heat for a few minutes until combined.

Remove from heat. Immediately add in the peanut butter and Nutella and continue stirring.

Mix in the rice cereal and stir together until thoroughly combined. Using a cookie scoop, place a dollop of the mixture in your hands and roll to form into a ball. Place on a wax-paper lined cookie sheet.

Place in the refrigerator to set. You can store these in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

[…] I’ve made a few recipes from Martina’s new cookbook, Martina’s Kitchen Mix, and have loved everything. Once I saw these in the cookbook, I knew I wanted to make these beauties because they didn’t require a lot of ingredients, required no baking and I was craving something sweet. In the last few months I’ve made these too many times to count. I gave the second batch to my niece after I had a couple just so I wouldn’t eat them all. She shared them with her study group at school and they all loved them and remembered them from their childhood. Now I have new taste testers!  And these little treats remind me of these Nutella Peanut Butter Balls […]
