A while back I went to Pluckers with some of my then co-workers. It was a favorite of one of the guys and after eating there, I could see why. The wings were the kind of comfort food you want to munch on while catching a game on one of the many screens, but the fried pickles also found a place in my ever growing list of favorites.
I’m one of those people who will eat just about anything fried. One thing I had not given a try was fried pickles. Oh, why do I wait so long to try things?! A good breading on a pickle spear, deep fried then dipped in some Ranch dressing. Absolutely comfort at its best.

Fried Pickles
15 Oval Dill Pickles
1/2 c all purpose flour
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp smoked paprika
1/8 tsp black pepper
1 egg
1 tsp water
Canola oil
Ranch Dressing
Instructions:
In a small bowl, add flour, garlic powder, paprika and pepper. Mix together.
In another small bowl, crack egg into bowl. Add teaspoon of water and whisk together until combined.
Dry pickles between paper towels. Dip pickles one at a time in flour mixture. Dredge in egg mix then back in flour mixture. Set aside on a small baking sheet. After you have battered each pickle, place in the freezer for 15 minutes.
While pickles are in the freezer, heat enough oil in a cast iron pan to cover the pickles. Once temperature reaches 325 degrees or sizzles when add a small drop if water in it, add pickles one at a time. Cook until pickles are crispy on both sides.
Enjoy with ranch dressing.
