Salted Jamoncillo Pecan Toffee are little bites of deliciousness and born from family traditions. These are the perfect treats for your holiday gatherings.

This past Dia de los Muertos, my family and I shared some of our favorite memories of our grandparents and loved ones. It seems like every single memory involved getting together with our huge close-knit family and food. Lots and lots of food. My grandma was always in the kitchen cooking up something warm and delicious for us to eat. That love of cooking has certainly been handed down from generation to generation. That is reminiscent in my Uncle Johnny’s Jamoncillo that he is famous for in our family.

I shared several memories at our celebration, but one in particular I shared, because I love it so much, is of Uncle Johnny cooking Jamoncillo for my family during the holidays. His family and mine would always get together some time during the holidays and he would make his famous Jamoncillo by cooking milk and sugar over the stove for a long period of time. Low and slow cooking would make the most delicious concoction. Some of us would eat it directly out of the plate with a spoon and my mom would slather it on bread. It was always so hard to wait for the caramel like dessert to cool enough to eat. It was always a treat because it took so long, well long to a child, to cook. I wanted to recreate that dish for my family get-together but of course put my spin on it.

Nowadays I am always trying to find a hack or faster way to do things so I used this oven method to make the Jamoncillo. It is so simple and with a can of NESTLÉ® LA LECHERA® Sweetened Condensed Milk, a delicious treat awaits. Toffee is reminiscent of Christmas time to me so I poured some on crackers and added Sea Salt because what doesn’t taste better with salt! Pecans is something I always have on hand so I chopped some up to put the final touches on this Salted Jamoncillo Pecan Toffee Bites.

I always seem to have a can of La Lechera in the pantry. The quality, consistency and creativity you can get from that one can of La Lechera can bring your family together. It does mine! La Lechera is the main ingredient in this dish that will help me pamper my loved ones with this delicious dessert that also fits into this busy season.

I will be sharing this Salted Jamoncillo Pecan Toffee Bites at our family gathering this year and hopefully my family will get that sentimental feeling of our Christmas gatherings of our youth when they bit into these treats. You can find more recipe inspiration on the La Lechera website! And don’t forget to pick up some NESTLÉ® ABUELITA® Mexican Hot Chocolate – it’s the perfect combination for these treats.
