The Christmas season always brings back such good memories for me. Memories such as having the entire clan together at my grandparents’ house on Christmas Eve. We are a big family, so times together were always loud and boisterous filled with lots of food, hugs and love. One way that memories come back to me is through scents – this time of year, specifically Christmas scents. I always have Glade® Wax Melts with my favorite scents on at my place so friends and family get a special treat when they walk into my place.
Mi abuela was always behind the stove cooking up a storm for the family. She passed that cooking gene to almost all her children. Well, almost all of them. At Christmas time, my Aunt Eleanor’s sugar cookies are famous. Just walking into the house smelling those cookies baking brings a smile to my face.
One Christmas a few years back, I was at my parents’ house baking cookies to hand out to family members. I opened a jar of anise to add to the cookies and all of a sudden I started crying. The smell just evoked such memories of my grandmother and the tea she would make us when we were sick. It’s crazy how smells can trigger emotions like that.
But that’s also why I always have my fragrance warmer going on at my place, especially during the holiday season. The smells of spruce, cinnamon and gingerbread wafting through the house just brings an automatic thought of the holiday season.
This year Glade® is making it simple to get those smells at your own place with their special holiday fragrances.

Nowadays, I do most of the baking in my little family and my niece and nephews love it. They are always putting in their requests for their favorites. One taste the kids love is gingerbread cookies and also, like me, pumpkin flavor. But you know me, I have to mix it up every year. So I made a pumpkin parfait and added some ginger snap cookies to make it a little different and bring a taste of the holidays to the treats. I can’t wait to make these for the kids as I know they will love them! I’m sending the kids the Glade® Gingerbread Jingle™ wax melts so they can enjoy the smell of these treats until I am there to make them for them.
Ginger Snap and Pumpkin Parfait

In a medium bowl, mix together pumpkin, pudding mix and spices until combined.
Gently fold in Cool Whip.
To make parfaits, take ten mini mason jars and remove lids.
Take a handful of ginger snap cookies and place in a Ziploc bag. Seal the bag then crush with a rolling pin to form crumbs. Repeat as necessary.
Add a handful of crumbs to the bottom of the mason jar.
Using a large cookie scoop, add some of the cool whip and pudding mixture on top. Repeat with cookie crumbs and pudding mix.
Place in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Once you are ready to serve, add a single cookie to the top layer of pudding.
One of my favorite Christmas scenes is an idyllic snow scene with carolers singing carols in the town square as the town Christmas tree is lit up. In my hometown we have that scene, well minus the snow and the carolers. But with these apothecary jars, I was able to recreate that scene in my head. And these Glade® Sparkling Spruce™ Wax Melts help me set the atmosphere when I can’t get the real snow scents. These melts help evoke memories of being outside in the crisp air as the snow is falling, maybe cutting down your own Christmas tree with the smell of Evergreen all around you. Just gazing into these scenes in the jar and the smells can practically bring this to life for you.
These snow scenes in apothecary jars are so simple to make. They will let you have a little piece of white Christmas in your own home.
