Yowza! These strawberries soaked in white wine and sugar are so good. The white wine just brought a whole new dimension to the flavor and made for a nice, woozy dessert. I poured the strawberries over one of those little dessert cups used for strawberry shortcake and the juice soaked though making it just right.
Wine-Marinated Strawberries (Recipe adapted from Pam Anderson/USA Weekend magazine)
Ingredients:
1 pound fresh strawberries, stemmed and thickly sliced
3 Tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 cups fruity white wine, such as Riesling
Dessert cups
Instructions:
Place strawberries in a medium glass bowl. Sprinkle with sugar, then add wine. Mix gently until sugar dissolves. Let them stand for 30 minutes or up to 3 hours. Serve with dessert cups.
