Dressed Up Soppy Joes

March 18, 2011 By denise Leave a Comment

The theme around here seems to be quick, delicious and easy meals. This recipe definitely fits that bill. This past weekend I was looking for something quick and I didn’t want to have to go out to the grocery store to put something together. The beauty of this recipe is that most of the ingredients are probably already in your pantry. I didn’t add any water but if you like your sloppy joes with a bit more juice, please add the water.

And who doesn’t love sloppy joes?

Dressed-Up Sloppy Joes (Recipe adapted from Our Best Bites)

Ingredients:

1/2 lb. lean ground beef
2 Tbsp onion, minced
2 Tbsp green pepper, minced
1/2 tsp garlic, minced
1/2 c. ketchup
1/2 tsp mustard
1 1/2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp red wine vinegar
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
3 slider hamburger buns

Instructions:

Brown ground beef with onion, green pepper, and garlic. Drain and return to stovetop. Add mustard, ketchup, brown sugar, red wine vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce to meat. Add water, if necessary, to reach desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover, turn heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve on hamburger buns.
