Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs….or close to it

September 7, 2011 By denise 4 Comments

My niece Sydni has been asking me to get her ingredients so she could make herself a fruit kabob ever since I brought home the skewers for my steak and veggie kabobs. Well, not to be outdone, I had to make a fruit kabob myself. And let’s be honest here, I needed a little something with my fruit.

I’ve seen this variation of strawberry and angel food cake kabobs in magazines before so I quickly put one together to see how it would taste. The verdict: It was even better as a kabob than as a slice of cake. It’s just something about little dainty pieces that works well together. I’ll be serving this at my Beauticontrol party this weekend for sure.

Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs

Ingredients:

Angel food cake, diced
Strawberries, washed and halved or quartered
Chocolate for drizzling
Cool Whip (fat free works well)
Skewers

Instructions:

Start by adding a small full strawberry to the skewer. Alternate with angel food cake squares and halved or quartered strawberries. Place on a dollop of cool whip and drizzle chocolate over kabob.

Yummy, love the angel food cake in it. I usually make just plain fruit kabobs or add marshmallows, but cake is an awesome idea.

Thank you so much for sharing it at Foodie Wednesday. I hope you can join us again today with another great recipe.
