Over the holidays I took a much needed break from blogging, social media and cooking. Well, except for Instagram. It’s my obsession after all. And I did make a few dishes for the family, including Christmas Eve dinner, these meatballs for the boys and my favorite Big Mac Casserole.
But for the most part, I took some time for myself and family. It was wonderful!
One thing I did take the time to do during the holidays, was drive the hour plus trip to Waco with my cousin Yolanda and niece Sydni. Our destination was Magnolia Market – the store brought to you by Joanna and Chip Gaines from HGTV’s Fixer Upper. To say I adore this couple is an understatement.
I didn’t even know about them until my cousin Yolanda shared a photo of them in a restaurant. Then I started seeing them everywhere online. I watched Season 1 on Netflix and was hooked.
The show is so uplifting and makes me want to redo my place every time I watch a new episode. I have heard from people who know them that what you see on television is genuine and who they really are. What they have done for Waco is unreal. Having lived in Waco a couple of different times, I’m happy to see positive exposure for the city!
The Magnolia compound is everything you would expect. Just walking up to the silos gets you excited for what is in store!
The store has so much to offer in terms of different items for everybody. Every nook and cranny had something new and I was overwhelmed with trying to see everything. I actually missed a couple of great antique utensils until I saw them in my cousin’s hands. They are going to be perfect for a Bake. Eat. Love. piece I am doing for my kitchen.
I want this scale thingy so bad. Maybe as a gift for myself for my birthday?
There was even an area downstairs that had all Christmas decor when we were there. Plus it was 50% off. Afterwards I was kicking myself for not buying more.
Outside there is a garden area that was decked out for the holidays. This area made me want to set up a real garden instead of my potted herbs.
And the food trucks! You know how much I love food trucks! There is an area outside where you can sit and eat food or sit on a grassy area. It’s decked out with tables or ready for a concert.
The food was good and I was disappointed I didn’t eat something from every truck. It just means another trip to Waco soon.
Don’t you just love the name Milo? I’m naming my next dog Milo. Done.
We also ventured to the Harp Design Co. And see that house off to the right? It was bought for around $10,000 and looked like it should have been torn down. Chip and Joanna did their magic and turned it into that masterpiece.
Clint has a lot of great ideas in his store too so be sure and check out his place.
I would completely recommend a trip to Waco to visit Magnolia Market. And another plus, they have an In-n-Out. They definitely didn’t have that when I lived there.
