I love me some beef. But I don’t eat it all that often, mostly for special occasions. You know, like the beginning of a show or a holiday for loved ones.
Just because I’m single doesn’t mean I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. But I usually shower my love on my sweethearts – my niece and nephews. This year I wasn’t able to be with them so I made myself a nice dinner and watched a movie.
This filet mignon was so tender and tasty. Treat yourself and make this one night for dinner.
Filet Mignon for One
Ingredients:
Bacon wrapped Filet mignon
Olive oil
Kosher salt
Freshly cracked Black pepper
Butter
Instructions:
Let filet come to room temperature (about 30 minutes).
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Heat a cast iron grill over medium high heat until pan is hot.
Drizzle olive oil all over filet mignon and rub it in.
Season liberally with salt and pepper and press it into the filet.
Sear all sides of the filet (about 2 minutes per side).
Place about a teaspoon of butter on top of steak. Place in the oven and cook until desired temperature:
Rare – 120°- 130°F; Medium Rare – 130°-140°F; Medium – 140°-150°F; Well Done – 160°-170°F.
Note: I cooked mine for about seven minutes in the oven then let it sit for about ten minutes and it was perfect. Between medium and well done which is how I like it.
