Friday my sister and I met up with a couple of my cousins at Jack Allen’s Kitchen in Round Rock for happy hour. When they suggested this location I was excited because a friend of mine had recently recommended it but I hadn’t made it there yet.
They started off with bringing us a sample of House Made Pimiento Cheese with Flatbread Crackers.
When the waiter talked about the Bacon Wrapped Texas Quail we had to give it a try too. Both appetizers were very satisfying and delicious. The Pimiento Cheese was definitely a tease because I could have gone for some more of the flatbread to scoop that right up.
Then it was on to the drinks.
Three of us got margaritas and one got a Mexican Martini. My Pomegranate Margarita was a little watered down but everyone else enjoyed theirs. My reaction also could be because I’m used to a frozen margarita so give it a whirl yourself.
Instead of getting dinner, we each got an appetizer and shared it among the group.
I got the Crunchy Catfish and Slaw, and everyone else got BLT Sliders, Spinach Gorgonzola Ravioli, and the Smashed Guacamole.
It was all tasty but my favorites were the Catfish and the Ravioli. I could have eaten that garlic bread with the Ravioli sauce all night long. And the tartar sauce that came with the catfish was so good.
Of course, I couldn’t do a review without trying dessert so we suffered through and had the Peach and Blackberry Cobbler and a Chocolate Mousse topped with Ganache.
Oh honey child these two were unbelievably good. The chocolate dish was so decadent it was almost sinful. And the cobbler was done to perfection.
If you’re in the area, you definitely want to give Jack Allen’s Kitchen a try.
