Slow Cooker Maple and Brown Sugar Glazed Ham

March 23, 2013 By denise 2 Comments

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. Ok. All holidays are my favorite because they all involve family and food. And some relaxation.

But Easter is different because you get to serve all these wonderful fresh dishes and the weather is nice. Well, it’s supposed to be.

I always serve ham for our Easter meal. Always. Because it’s so easy to make and never fails to be so delicious. Then I went and tried it in the slow cooker and found an even easier way to make it – without turning on the oven.

This ham is perfect for a family get together as it doesn’t require a lot of work but does bring a nice smooth flavor to the dish. Plus it stays moist while infusing flavor in the ham.

Slow Cooker Maple and Brown Sugar Glazed Ham

Ingredients:

1 Bone in ham, spiral cut, fully cooked
1/4 c dark brown sugar, divided
8 oz pineapple tidbits
3 Tbsp pure maple syrup
2/3 c sprite

Instructions:

Using a large crock pot, sprinkle 2 Tbsp of brown sugar on bottom of the slow cooker. Place 2 Tbsp of pineapple tidbits on top of the brown sugar.

Place ham flat side down on top of the brown sugar and pineapple. Rub the remaining brown sugar all over the ham. Drizzle maple syrup over the ham.

Add the remaining pineapple to the top and sides of the ham. The juice should be placed around the ham. Add the Sprite to the sides as well.

If your cover does not fit over the ham, cover the slow cooker with foil. Double cover with foil.

Don’t be alarmed as the liquid will increase. Baste the ham with the liquid periodically. Cook on high for 2-3 hours.

Yum! I'll be making ham this coming Sun too. I just saw on the PIoneer Woman's episode the other day that she uses soda for her ham too. I may need to try that!

Julie, it really does something to the meat in the slow cooker. I also used some in the beef tips in mushroom sauce and I was amazed at how delicious it was.
