My niece and I recently went to a hockey game. One of the things that appeals to her, other than when they drop the gloves, is the food available there.
This time she asked for pizza so we bought these pepperoni rolls. It was basically dough wrapped around pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. I knew I had to recreate them at home since she loved them. These could definitely be on your Super Bowl menu.
Our simple version included Pillsbury Crescent rolls because, I’ll be honest, we always have a roll on hand. The kids gave them two thumbs up and I enjoyed one or two myself. My niece even said they were better than at the hockey game!
The cheese didn’t melt as much as I thought it would but it could have been because I used a low fat version. I’m also showing the recipe at 350 (I used 375 for 13 mins) for 15 min. to give the cheese more time to melt and the dough to brown more even.
Pepperoni Rolls
Ingredients:
1 can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls, reduced fat
24-32 Pepperonis
4 Mozzarella string cheese, cut in half to create 8 pieces
Italian Seasoning
Ingredients:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Roll out the crescent rolls and separate into 8 triangles. Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the dough. Place two pieces of pepperoni on the largest end of the dough. Add cheese on top of the pepperoni. Add another piece or two of pepperoni to the top of the cheese then roll the dough starting with the largest side to the tip.
Sprinkle Italian seasoning to the outside of the dough. Bake for 13-15 minutes.
