Last week we went to Lost Pines for vacation and one of the many meals we had there included Dr. Pepper Baked Beans. As soon as I tasted the sweet, gooey dish, I knew I had to recreate it.
The ones we had I could definitely taste the Dr. Pepper and brown sugar. I knew they added more to the dish so I incorporated ketchup, mustard and spices to make it more barbecue-ish.
The dish was a hit with the kids. Jacob actually said “I love these beans!” – so give them a try.
Dr. Pepper Baked Beans
Ingredients:
2 cans pork and beans, drained
2/3 c brown sugar
2/3 c Dr. Pepper
Dash of paprika, salt and pepper
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp Balsamic vinegar
1/3 cup ketchup
1/4 c yellow mustard
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Add all ingredients to a casserole dish. Mix until well combined. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
Note: I intended to add bacon to the dish but completely forgot it.
