Mini Banana Split Bites and Kabobs

June 19, 2012 By denise 9 Comments

I am having a ball making mini desserts and also seeing what I can put on a kabob. Food tastes so good when you have it in mini portions, and for me, I can control myself better with mini bites.

Normally I’d want to eat an entire banana split by myself, but with these I got the taste of the yummy toppings without feeling the need to go overboard.

The family loved them and gobbled them up. They are so cute and a perfect treat. I can’t wait to have a party and make everything mini.

Ingredients:

Bananas
Strawberries
Pineapple slices or chunks
Lite Cool Whip
Semi-sweet mini chocolate chips
Optional: maraschino cherries

Instructions:

Place chocolate chips in a Ziploc bag. Place in microwave and heat for 20 seconds. Take out and squish (yes that’s a real term) together to melt. Place back in microwave and heat for 10-15 seconds more if not melted. Snip a tiny piece off the end of the bag to pipe the chocolate out of the bag. Place a couple of dollops of Cool Whip in a Ziploc bag and snip off the end as well. This will make it easier to pipe onto the bananas.

Slice bananas and place on a platter. Top with either chocolate or Cool Whip. Place a piece of pineapple on top. Add chocolate or cool whip. Cut the strawberry in half then cut each half in half again. Place on top of the chocolate or Cool Whip. Add a small dollop of Cool Whip then drizzle with the chocolate.

If you want to make them into kabobs, place a toothpick through the fruit and top with a cherry.

These are the perfect size for me kids. Enough to get a dessert, without the heavy feeling of eating a lot!
