Back when we would get together at my Uncle’s house for Mother’s Day, he would always grill the moms steaks. So when I was planning the menu for this year, I knew I wanted to have steak.
I love the flavor of balsamic vinegar so of course I wanted to try that. I threw in some other ingredients taking from a couple of other recipes I’ve tried. The sauce that came together was good. The steaks were tender and had a nice taste to them. And the glaze gave the steaks a rich color to them.
Balsamic Glazed Filet Mignon
Ingredients:
2 Filet mignon steaks
2 steaks (I totally forgot what kind I bought – the store ran out of filet mignon)
Montreal steal seasoning
1/2 c Balsamic vinegar
1/2 c red wine
2 Tbsp butter
3 tsp brown sugar
2 tsp minced garlic
Instructions:
Prepare the steaks by letting them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before you cook them.
Sprinkle with the steak seasoning. Heat a non-stick skillet on high heat and sear the steaks on both sides.
Take the meat out and add the remaining ingredients. Let cook for 4-5 minutes. Make sure to scrape up any of the brown bits from the steak.
Add the steaks and cook in the sauce until cooked to your desired doneness. (I like mine well done so I cook it for a while – I’m learning to like it with a bit of pink but it’s taking some time.)
Serve with sauce drizzled on the steaks.
