Time always seems to get away from me during the holidays. And Easter was no exception. Case in point — last night I colored eggs with my niece and nephews. Yes, two days after Easter. So it should come as no surprise that I was up until 3am on Easter morning making cupcakes, lemon bars and these birds nests.
I forgot I wanted to make these until very very late. And by that time I was so tired that I only made about 10.
Oh my goodness were these delicious. They tasted very much like rice krispies with that little added surprise that only a Whopper can give you. The kids even enjoyed these. Of course I wouldn’t tell them what they were until after they had tasted them. I may or may not have told them they were rice krispie treats. Made with noodles.
Knowing my obsession with Nutella, I have no doubt I’ll be making the remainder of the noodles using some of that scrumptious chocolate and hazelnut concoction as a special treat.
Birds Nests
Ingredients:
3 cups mini marshmallows
2 Tbsp Light butter
1/2 bag Chow Mein noodles
Speckled Robin Whopper candies
Instructions:
Using a microwave safe bowl, melt the marshmallows and butter together in the microwave. Start at :30 seconds then mix together to melt. If needed, place in microwave for additional :10 second increments until melted completely. Add noodles and mix until marshmallow goo is all over noodles.
Butter your hands then grab a chunk of noodles and mold into nests. You can also place in muffin tins sprayed with Pam to mold. Add candies. Let set overnight.
